The Happy Dog

5801 Detroit Ave

44102 Cleveland

KEEP TALKING - A storytelling show at the Happy Dog on the FIRST WEDNESDAY of every month. The next show is March 4th, at 8 p.m. Doors at 7:30 and it fills up fast! $5 Hosted by Adam Richard and Zachariah Durr! MARCH THEME: “ONE LAST TIME" Storytellers: TBD...we need YOU to submit! ...with Zachariah Durr hosting! Keep Talking is a storytelling show that takes a theme, and invites people to tell stories about that theme. These stories can be inspiring, funny, sad, bizarre, meaningful, shocking, or a combination of all those things. --- We need YOU. Everyone has an interesting story in them. It doesn’t matter if you aren’t an actor, comic or natural “center of attention”, we want to hear from you. WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO BE ON THE SHOW? Stories need to meet three requirements: 1. Stories need to be true, and have happened to YOU, not your buddy, partner, sibling, etc. 2. Stories need to fit the month’s theme in SOME way. 3. No hate or harm - meaning you can tell a story of how someone hurt you, but if things get negative, change the name. Please don’t tell a slanderous story about someone who will be in the room. Submit your story by writing us at KeepTalkingCLE@gmail.com. You can either write a two paragraph max summary of the story, or send us a audio or video of your story summary. Send us at least the beginning and ending of the story. Don’t leave on a cliffhanger. If you think writing the whole thing out will help us "get" the story - go for it (but please, no novels!) Once you’ve submitted, we will quickly get back to you about your story - so send it today! THINGS WE LOOK FOR IN STORY SUBMISSIONS: 1. We like detail, but you don't need to write a novel...Give us the beginning, middle and end! 2. We would prefer one single story and not a recap of multiple experiences...don't just give us a series of events or anecdotes! For example, if you're a bartender and have met and experienced all kinds of weird people, we want to hear about is the story of that one crazy...

Nothing Changes

131 Chrystie St

10002 New York

NOTHING CHANGES PRESENTS: 3 / 4 / 15 HTRK (GHOSTLY INTL) HTRK’s music is not a quick-fix for restless, impatient minds; it needs to absorbed, contemplated and revisited. Listen to one of their records and youll find yourself slipping deep into their sound world, where the cavernous reverberations of dub techno are mixed with frosted post-punk motifs and the gravelly imperfections of industrial, reimagined in the setting of a dingy basement. yourcomicbookfantasy.com facebook.com ghostly.com POP 1280 (SACRED BONES) Pop. 1280 have been described as “the hardest working scumbags in New York City,” but this backhanded compliment hardly does credit to the complexity and intelligence behind their infectious grooves and highbrow lyrics. Their struggle is the timeless battle of man versus nature, of yin and yang. In their world, fear is real, and the only way to conquer tyranny is an uncompromising assault. pop1280.tumblr.com https://www.facebook.comPop. 1280 soundcloud.com Djs / Liz Wendelbo (Xeno & Oaklander) // Molly Smith (Ghostly Intl) $9 10pm-4am WWW.NOTHINGCHANGSNYC.COM **TICKETS FOR THIS EVENT WILL BE AVAILABLE THE DOOR AT 10PM THE NIGHT OF THE SHOW ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS** UPCOMING EVENTS: 3/11 - NC TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY w/ LUST FOR YOUTH 3/18 - OAKE (DOWNWARDS) // LUSSURIA (HOSPITAL PRODUCTIONS) 3/25 - FORMA 4/15 - NEW YORK'S ALRIGHT EVENT W/ DIGITAL OCTOPUS // ZOLOA 4/22- RAW DISTRACTIONS (JAP) // TBA 4/29 - CRAOW // LIABLE 5/20 - DARKWOOD (GER) // DESTROYING ANGEL 5/27 - ORA ISO // TIMEGHOST 6/24 - HIDE (Chicago) //TBA

When prejudices and stereotypes emerge in the company, talented African-American actress Wiletta Mayer faces a difficult choice: the opportunity to achieve her lifelong dream of playing a leading role on Broadway or compromising her principles. Trouble in Mind, a backstage satire of egos and attitudes, is an insightful look at who we are and who we want to be. AfterWords: A post-performance discussion with the audience. Thursday, March 5 following the performance of Trouble in Mind. Director Melissa Maxwell will join Professor Koritha Mitchell (Department of English) in a discussion about Childress's play. Mitchell, a specialist in African American literature, is the author of the award winning Living with Lynching: African American Lynching Plays, Performance, and Citizenship, 1890 - 1930 (University of Illinois Press, 2011). Shelby Brewster, dramaturg, will moderate the discussion that will include the cast and production team.
